1st time experiences in Kstan so far:
-sick stomach.
-Got my arm stuck in a bus door
*(don’t worry it’s not broken, or even bruised)*
- Taught my first lesson with a translator
- Survived my first earthquake (tremor)
- Received “authentic” English training
- Enjoyed my first lesson with a language helper
- Made a new (national) friend
If you can’t tell the last few days have been pretty eventful and very enjoyable. Yes even earthquakes and finding the quickest way to get the circulation back in your arm and out of a bus door can be pleasurable =)
I am so excited about my new friend and language helper “C”. I look forward to getting to know her and her way of life (culture) better. She has such a joyful personality, great sense of humor and her English is very good ,which at this point is very helpful.
Language class has been fantastic! I really enjoy the challenge of learning a new way of verbal communication…haha….”verbal communication” gotta love it! Meaning I enjoy learning a new language.
So I’m thinking within the next couple days I should get an earthquake survival kit ready…hmmm??? What do you think?! =) Eight years of living in California I never had one…but for some reason I feel more inclined to have one here in Kstan…I wonder why?? Maybe it’s because I live on the first floor of an aged apartment building…yeah---that’s a good enough reason for me! =) So I’m thinking a flashlight, extra batteries, peanut butter, knife, bottled water…have any suggestions???
