Update on Brian

Brian’s fever went up again last night. The doctor’s are not sure what is causing his fever. The cultures they took the other day of his lungs have not grown anything so far, indicating there may not be an infection, but we still have another 24 hrs. to wait for the final results. Even though the doctors did not find much fluid in Brian’s lungs, they are still concerned about pneumonia. Brian’s heart is doing really well, the main concern are his lungs. They were damaged pretty severely. The doctors said his lungs could take days or weeks to recover. At this time Brian is still under sedation and on a breathing machine because his oxygen levels are still too low. The doctor’s do not want to try to wake him until those numbers have increased. He may be sedated for days or weeks (?) Because they have not been able to wake Brian and check his responses to commands they have not been able to check the functioning of his brain.

This last week/weekend has been very wearisome, emotional, and challenging for our family. We all miss Brian and his wonderful smile, laughter, silly jokes, and joy he brings to each of us daily. Pray that we can continue to encourage one another, especially Ali, Karen, Xander, Brian’s parents (Vicky and Larry), and his sister (Chris) and that we can stay strong as a family.

***Please pray for healing in Brian’s lungs, for our family to have patience and rest in the Lord. Pray that God gives wisdom to the doctors to figure out what is causing the fever in Brian’s body and how to proceed in treating him***
