O the joy of springtime. If you know me you know I absolutely LOVE America's greatest past-time, baseball. I don't know what it is, but ever since I was in first grade I have pretty much been obsessed with the game. On the surface baseball is a pretty slow-moving boring sport, but if you really understand the game and ever statistic and well-thought out-planned decision that goes into each pitch you may think differently. But I'm not here to discuss the phonetics of a game most people do not care to watch or to convince you of how amazing the game played on a diamond is. I am here however to tell you how flippin' amazing SPRING TRAINING is!
Okay, so like I said I've loved baseball since I was like 7 years old. I am now 26. So that's 19 years of pure dedication to a game and not once have I gone to Spring Training. The entire weekend I could not help but question my parents "And WHY have we not ever done this before?" Being that close and personal with the Major League players is like a child's dream come true. The atmosphere is so chill and relaxed...sitting in the sun (getting a tan)...watching the game...enjoying a nice cold beverage...and cheering on your favorite player, would could be better!
Well needless to say I have decided this will become an annual tradition for me and whomever wants to join me. Hopefully one day I'll have a man who enjoys a good game of baseball and wants to travel to Arizona and Florida every March to watch some games...a girl can dream can't she =)
I had an excellent time on this trip. I met up with my parents, my dad's best friend from his childhood, and his daughter who also enjoys the game. It's pretty interesting...my dad and David have been friends since like 7th grade, Lillian and I share the same birthday, both our mom's are named Carolyn, and we all love baseball...strange. All those interesting coincidences set the stage for a great weekend.
We stayed at a beautiful hotel with a lot of other baseball (crazy) fans and enjoyed watching and cheering for the SF Giants (even though I swore I would never cheer for them, but Bonds is gone, so I figured no harm) and the Texas Rangers. We enjoyed some delicious *free* drinks by the pool and the warm Arizona sun. Another plus to this fun trip was getting to see my friend Laura who I haven't seen or talked to in like 8 years! It was amazing to just pick up where we left off. Good times for sure.
Well here are some pictures from that wonderful weekend...enjoy....
